Arden Dale James of Knoxville passed away Dec. 23, 2015, at the Knoxville Hospital. A visitation for Arden was held from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 27, 2015, at the Winfield Funeral Home. A private family burial was held Dec. 29, 2015, at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville. Arden was born in rural Lucas County on June 6, 1924, to Walter H. James and Effie (Grimes) James. Arden attended school at the Chariton High School. After high school, Arden enlisted in the United States Air Force. In the 1960s, Arden and Millie (Lucas) were united in marriage. Arden and Millie shared many years of marriage before Millie’s passing. For several years, Arden worked at International, building tractors in Rock Island, Ill. Arden enjoyed bowling and playing pool. He would also be found spending his day shopping at local garage sales. Arden is survived by two sisters, Rose ( Kenneth) Systma of rural Knoxville, Bertha ( Gary) Weber of Woodward, Iowa; two brothers Lloyd James of Des Moines and Lyle ( Wanda) James of rural Knoxville; two brothers-in-law, Jack Lewis of Indianola and Ed Goben of Chariton; and one sister-in-law, Vera James of Waterloo, and many nieces, nephews and cousins Condolences may be sent to www.winfieldfh.com.
