Bob DeWinter

Bob DeWinter passed away Thursday, June 6, 2019 in the care of Comfort House in Pella Iowa. He was born in Ottumwa Iowa on July 26, 1929.
Bob was an Army veteran and served in the Korean War. Upon leaving the service, he took up residence in Kansas City, Missouri. There he met and married Joyce, his wife of 48 years.
In 1975, Bob and family moved to Hubbard, Iowa to work for Farmland Industries. Determined to be their own bosses, Bob and Joyce later moved to rural Southern Missouri to build and operate a hydroponic greenhouse specializing in tomatoes. After several years of operation, with a desire to be closer to many of their children and grandchildren, they sold the greenhouse and moved back to Iowa.
With the passing of Joyce in 2001, Bob moved to Pleasantville, Iowa, to enjoy retirement, new relationships, and family.
Bob is remembered by family and friends as having a great sense of humor, and loved to tell jokes and play pranks.
Bob is survived by his four children, Donald (Marge) DeWinter of Peculiar Missouri, Debra (Shane) Scarlett of Des Moines, Denise (Dave) Modtland of Pella, and Deann (Troy) Borgerson of Pleasantville, ten Grandchildren, and eleven Great Grandchildren.
A private graveside service for family will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made to Comfort House in Pella, Iowa. Sympathy cards can be sent to PO Box 683, Pleasantville, IA 50225
