Bonna's Story

Bonna Lee Fulmer was born on February 15, 1938, in Bedford, Illinois . She was the third of ten children that were born to William Harvey Fulmer and Ila Marjorie (Lovell) Fulmer. Bonna attended school in East Pike School system in Milton, Illinois. On January 3, 1956, she was united in marriage with Floyd Eugene Lacey at Griggsville, Illinois. To this union two daughters were born, Deborah Kim and Tamera Lynn. They lived in Pearl, IL for two years before moving to Milton, Illinois, where they resided for the next 46 years. Bonna worked as a CNA for several years in Milton before she opened up an upholstery business in her home. Bonna was an accomplished seamstress and painter. After retirement, Floyd and Bonna opened Lacey's House of Crafts, where they worked together teaching painting classes and woodworking. Floyd passed away in 2005 and Bonna moved permanently to Knoxville, Iowa to live with her daughter Deborah. Her health began to decline and passed away on Monday, June 26, 2017, at the Pella Regional Health Center in Pella, Iowa at the age of 79 years. Those who will cherish her memory are two daughters, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. They are: Deborah and Samuel Dye of Knoxville, Iowa, Jonathan Michael and Maureen Dye of Columbus, OH, Lacey Rochelle and Jacob Stielow of Knoxville, Johannah, David Andrew Dye of Knoxville, Alexandra Jacob Dye of Knoxville,Natalia Marie Dye of Knoxville; Tamera and Anthony Beaverson of Moberly, Missouri, Christopher Evan and Katherine Beaverson of Fort Morgan, CO, Sean, Liam, Olivia, Annie Jo and Aaron McDonald of Moberly, MO, Lily, Noah. Of her original ten siblings, Bonna leaves two sisters, Norma Sidwell of Pittsfield, IL, and Winnifred Scott of Lakemont, GA; three brothers, Kenneth and wife Joyce Fulmer of Pearl, IL, Wendell and wife Corry Fulmer of Volkenberg, the Netherlands, and Roger Mark and wife Tina Fulmer of Dallas, GA; along with several nieces and nephews. Bonna was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ila Fulmer, three brothers, Norman, Larry and Darrold Fulmer, and her sister, Janice Malcomb. Bonna was a member of Greenpond Christian Church in Pearl, IL, Independence Christian Chruch in Pittsfield, IL and currently Christ's Church in Knoxville, IA. She enjoyed flower gardening and mowing. Bonna never missed a grandchild's birthday party no matter where they lived in the country. She will be often missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends. Funeral services were held on Thursday, June 29, at the Williams Funeral Home in Knoxville.
