Cleo Storm, age 95, of Knoxville, Iowa passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2017 after a beautiful life spent with her family and friends, traveling, and selflessly taking care of others.
Cloe was born on July 18, 1921 in Maxwell, Iowa to Walter and Mary Bennethum. She spent her early years in Birch Lake in Minnesota fishing with her sister Goldie. She moved back to Iowa with her family graduating high school from Collins-Maxwell in 1940.
Following graduation, she moved to California and worked in an ammunition factory during WWII. She married the love of her life, Donald Storm, on June 10, 1960 and they spent most of their life in Knoxville, Iowa on their horse farm south of town.
She and Donald loved to travel to Arizona, play cards and visit with their many friends. They adored their children and grandchildren and opened their home to veterans for over 35 years cooking and caring for them daily. She enjoyed crocheting, winning big at the casino, taking the grandchildren on road trips in the motorhome and spending time with her friends and family.
Cleo is preceeded in death by her parents; her husband of 38 years, Donald Storm; her son Richard Ballard, sister, Goldie Adams; nephew, Danny Adams and many other beloved friends. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Gordon and Emilee (Storm) Haning; step-daughters, Diane Storm and Connie McCeery; grand-daughters, Natalie (Jeff) Derry, Tara Hoch (Brad Kauzlarich), Lyndsey (Casey) Sullivan, and grandson, Drs. Justin (Rachelle) Haning, great-grandchildren, Trey and Trevor Derry, Jayce, Jerek and Jameson Hoch, and Henry and Stormy Sullivan.
Visitation for Cleo will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service on Friday, June 9, 2017 at Winfield Funeral Home in Knoxville, Iowa.
A celebration of Cleo's life will be held at 11:00 A.M., on Friday, June 9, 2017 at the Winfield Funeral Home with Elder Bill McDonald officiating. Burial will be held at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville, Iowa immediately following the service.
