Darrell Wadle, 84 of Chariton, passed away April 12, 2016.A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, April 16, 2016, at 11 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Chariton. Interment followed at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Lacona. Family received friends Friday, April 15, 2016, from 6-8 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:30 p.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton. Darrell Andrew Wadle was born Nov. 24, 1931, to Henry Leo and Clara Angela Wadle at their home in Lacona. Darrell was one of nine children born to the couple. He grew up a mile-and-a-half north of Lacona and attended country school through the eighth grade. Darrell was married to Erma Louise Ohnemus on Nov. 5, 1952, at the Rosemount Church in Lacona. To this union, three children were born: Susan, Frank and Marge. The family moved to a farm near Chariton in 1976. Darrell enjoyed farming and gardening. He often took vegetables around Chariton to the elderly. Darrell was a motivated and strong-willed person who loved to learn. He went on to receive his GED in 1975 and held the top scores in his class. He loved to read and was full of random knowledge. He often read the newspaper, “Reader’s Digest”, and the encyclopedia. He was innovative and could fix anything. Last year, Darrell installed solar panels on his house. Darrell enjoyed the simple things. He loved homemade wine, old Westerns, playing card games, and he was a great cook. Above all else, Darrell enjoyed time spent with his wife, children, and granddaughter. His family will miss his bright smile and his great sense of humor. Darrell is survived by his wife of 63 years, Erma Wadle of Chariton; children: Susan (John) Klaric of Raleigh, N.C., Frank (Brenda) Wadle of Pleasantville, Marge Wadle of Chariton; granddaughter, Taylor (Austin) Darnell; and brother, Giles (Mary Judith) Wadle of Pleasantville. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Clara Wadle; and siblings: Helen Wadle; Irene Jacops, Marvin Wadle, Glen Wadle, Alfred Wadle, Virgil Wadle, and Don Wadle.
