Dorothy was born Dec. 9, 1942, in Whiting, Ind., to Michael and Mary (Gasparovich) Cernic. She was raised in the Melcher-Dallas and Columbia area and lived on a farm most of her life. She graduated from Melcher High School in 1961 and then attended Maryville Missouri Junior College and studied to be a nurse. In 1964, Dorothy was married to Marvin L. Clark and they were blessed with three children: Victoria, Marvin, and Arthur. Everyone would describe Dorothy as hard working. She was a farmer through and through. She loved working her cow-calf operation and checking the cows on her gator with the dog. She was proud of her farm heritage and immensely proud that her boys are farmers. In addition to the farm, she worked at Hormel for several years and then Pella Corporation. She retired after 10 years there. Dorothy always found time to volunteer at her church and in the community. She enjoyed getting together one Saturday a month to provide meals for community residents in Melcher and the surrounding area. Dorothy remained close with her sisters-in-law over the years. She loved to socialize and go to garage sales and auctions. Dorothy had participated in 4-H and still enjoyed helping out whenever she could. She loved big family gatherings and dinners. She was an excellent cook and liked to pass on her knowledge to her children and grandchildren. She just recently taught the grandchildren to make noodles and the great grandchildren to make cookies. Dorothy passed away April 8, 2016, at the Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines at the age of 73 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; Michael and Mary Cernic. She will be greatly missed by her children: Victoria Clark-Bone (Kevin) of Des Moines, Marvin "Bub" Clark (Penny) of Columbia, and Art "Tigger" Clark (Danell) of Dallas; grandchildren: DJ (Michaela) Northway, Jesse Clark, Trent Clark, Alysia Bone, Bryce Bone, Curtis Clark, and Emma Clark; great grandchildren: Macy, Braydon, Makenna, Nevaeh, and Florence; her brother, Matthew (Kathryn) Cernic of Hedrick; along with many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. othy Clark, age 73, of Columbia.
