Edna M. Coop, age 99 of Pella and formerly of Attica, Iowa died Friday evening, November 11, 2016, at The Cottages in Pella.
A graveside funeral service for Edna was held at 10:00 A.M., on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at the Gullion Cemetery of Attica. Edna's family greeted friends, prior to services, from 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M., Tuesday morning at the Winfield Funeral Home.
Edna was born August 2, 1917 in Attica, Iowa the daughter of Pearla Newton and Gertrude (Booth) Neal. Edna was raised and attended school in Attica. During school she was active in basketball.
In 1935 Edna and William Dale Coop were united in marriage. They shared over 60 years of marriage together and were blessed with four children: Ronald, Newton, Sharon, and Cary. Dale died on January 29, 1996.
Edna raised her family and worked in Pella. She worked at a greenhouse, an egg factory, and a school cook. Edna also worked at and retired from Pella Corp. Edna also liked to raise a garden, grow flowers, and was very involved with her family and their activities.
Edna is survived by her daughter Sharon Coop of Pella, her son Cary Coop and wife Sharon A. of Belle Plaine, Iowa; three grandchildren, Alicia Valiant and husband Rodney, Kimberly Farrar and husband Mike, and Julie Sherman and husband Keith; and two great-grandchildren, Ashley and Kaitlyn.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents Pearla and Gertrude Neal; her husband Dale Coop; and two sons, Ronald Dale Coop and Newton Keith Coop.
