Evelyn Lucille Dunkin, age 92, of Knoxville, formerly of Lovilia, died on Saturday, March 5, 2016, at Westridge Specialty Care in Knoxville. She was born on Nov. 21, 1923, to Andy and Bertha (Warren) Henderson. She graduated from Lovilia High School, class of 1941. She raised her family on the farm, and worked at Water’s Grocery Store in Lovilia. She then managed Pine Knolls Country Club Kitchen in Knoxville, where she met Lee, and they spent the next 44 years together. She later went to Bingley Sell Barn Café, where she was famous for her barbeque ribs until retirement. She liked flowers, snapping green beans, Shucking corn, going to casinos, and riding her golf cart to the garden. She was very proud of her five generations. Evelyn is survived by her children, Beverly Hugen of Lovilia, Wendell (Linda) Dunkin of Des Moines, Katherine Thomas of Bussey, Lowell Dunkin of Des Moines, significant other, Lee Thompson of Knoxville, three generations of grandchildren, and siblings, Maxine Chance of Albia, Paul (Jean) Henderson of Ottumwa, and Joe (Joan) Henderson of Newton. She is preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, Bob and Ern Henderson. Celebration of Life Services were held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 9, 2016, at the Lovilia United Methodist Church with Rev. Raymond Doser officiating. Visitation was also on Wednesday, March 9, 2016, at the Lovilia United Methodist Church from 9:30 -10:30 a.m. Memorials may be directed to the family.
