George Pierschbacher Sr. passed away on Oct. 31, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines at the age of 90. A Celebration of Life Gathering was held on Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2015, from 5-7 p.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton. A private burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to George’s family or to the Childhood Leukemia Foundation. Online condolences may be shared at www.pierschbacherfuneralhome.com Lloyd George Pierschbacher was born on April 3, 1925, to Henry and Doshie Pierschbacher at their home in rural Chariton. George was the oldest of seven children born to the couple. He attended country school through the eighth grade. George was married to Linda on Aug. 30, 1990, in Marysville, Ariz. They celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary this past summer. George was an avid toy collector throughout his life. He and his wife, Linda, owned and operated the Belinda Toy and Antique Museum north of Chariton. They enjoyed attending auctions together in search of antique toys to add to their collection. George was also well-known for repairing toys. In addition to being a business owner, George was employed by several local businesses over the years. He bought equipment for the Chariton Farm Machinery Auction for 26 years. George was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Doshie Pierschbacher; siblings: Ray Pierschbacher (Gladys), Martha Lamberson, and Marvin Pierschbacher (Betty); and brother-in-law, Joe Peterson. He will be dearly missed by his wife, Linda Pierschbacher; 3 step-children; and sisters, Thelma Peterson and Darlene Gibbs.
