Services for Hilda Dittmer, 94, will be Monday, January 29, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Melcher. Family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. at the church where a Rosary Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Burial will be at the Bauer Cemetery. Hilda Monica Greubel was born June 29, 1923 to Paul and Emma Weishaar Greubel near Bauer, Iowa. Hilda was the middle child of eleven children born to the couple. She attended Bauer School alongside her siblings.
On February 16, 1944, Hilda was united in marriage to Giles Dittmer at the Rosemount Catholic Church. The couple was blessed with seven children: Ron, Sandy, Ann, Tom, Joan, Lee, and Mark. Hilda stayed busy as a mother and homemaker. She was a very loving mother and enjoyed staying home with her children and helping Giles on the farm.
Hilda was athletic and enjoyed playing softball with the kids. She also loved music. She played the harmonica and encouraged her children to play instruments and appreciate music as well. Hilda was a wonder in the kitchen and made the best cinnamon rolls. She enjoyed crafts, sewing, and crocheting.
Hilda and Giles enjoyed traveling together and taking off on fishing trips. They were blessed with many grandchildren and great grandchildren and they loved spending time with them. Hilda was very proud of her family and looked forward to every family gathering. She will be greatly missed by so many.
Hilda passed away on January 25, 2018 at the Knoxville Area Community Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Giles in 2010; son, Ron Dittmer; son-in-law, Tom Walsh; great grandson, Zach Carey; and siblings: Herman Greubel, Coletta Redick, Marie Harrison, Esther Greubel, Wilfred Greubel, Flavian "Jack" Greubel, James Greubel, Giles Greubel, Irvin "Bob" Greubel, and Donna Kelly.
Hilda is survived by her children: Sandy (Jim) Spencer of Monroe, Ann (Roger) Seuferer of Lacona, Tom (Sharon) Dittmer of Grove, OK, Joan Walsh of Hannibal, MO, Lee (Cindy) Dittmer of Knoxville, Mark (Lana) Dittmer of Spring Hill, KS, and daughter-in-law Mavis Dittmer of Chisago City, MN; 14 grandchildren: Carrie (Mark Carey) Dittmer, Josie (Andy) Muntifering, Wes (April) Seuferer, Lori (Brian) Mathis, Jesse (Haley) Seuferer, Katie (Logan) Sammons, Jeff Dittmer, Carly (James Nelson) Dittmer, Tyler (Melody) Dittmer, Erin (David) Murphy, Quintin Dittmer, Bret (Leigh) Dittmer, Danielle (Marcus) Ortiz, and Amanda (Brian) McCulloch; and 23 great grandchildren.
