Howard D. Wolett passed away at the Iowa Veterans' Home on Jan. 23, 2016, after a long battle with Alzheimer's. He was born Oct. 14, 1934, to Wilber and Inez (Storie) Wolett in Derby, Iowa. He was married to Margaret A. Culver, and to this union was born four children; David, Martin, Lori and Steven. He and Margaret were later divorced. He served in the US Army, reaching the rank of Sergeant in the Military Police. After his tour of duty, he served in the Iowa National Guard. He was also a member of the Knoxville American Legion, and a member of the Honor Guard. He was a long-time employee at the Knoxville VA. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Darrell, his sisters Peggy and Wilma, his daughter Lori Roberts, and son Steven. He is survived by his sisters Doris Clark and Linda Bjorn, sons David Wolett, Martin (Kim) Wolett, and his grandchildren DJ (Tia) Wolett, Matthew (Kelsey) Roberts, Meghan Wolett, and Joshua (Shae) Wolett. He has 4 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be announced at a later date.
