Jane Bales was born April 14, 1939, in Knoxville, the daughter of Dale and Verda Wooldridge. Jane attended Knoxville schools and graduated from Knoxville High School in 1957. Jane married Roger Bales in 1957. The couple made homes in and around Marion County. Jane spent the past few years living in Knoxville. Jane has been a member of Zion Methodist Church, Pershing, for the past several years. She was employed by the VA Medical Center in Knoxville for over 30 years before retiring in 2000. She loved spending time with her family and could hardly wait until they arrived. She enjoyed her many friends stopping by to visit and drink coffee. She loved the many dogs, horses, and mules she and Roger had over the years, traveling throughout the country together with their sons showing horses and mules in many events. She enjoyed camping and trail riding. Jane was preceded in death by her husband, mother, father, son (John Bales), six brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her two sons, Roger Jr. “Rusty” and Margaret of Darlington, Wis., Scott of Knoxville; daughter-in-law Sue Bales of Lacona; five grandchildren, Nick and Stephanie of Topeka, Kan., Valarie and Shane of De Forest, Wis., Andrew of Des Moines, Amy of Lacona, Dina and Daryl of Des Moines; 10 great-grandchildren; her brothers Dan, Charles, and Jack, and sister Mary. There will be no services. Her ashes will be scattered at a later date with family.
