Jane Louise (Riley) Humeston, age 85, of Knoxville, passed away late Friday evening, February 10,2017, at Westridge Specialty Care of Knoxville.
Jane's wishes were to be cremated and a celebration of life service will be held from 12:00 noon to 3:00 P.M. Saturday, February 25, 2017 in the West Fellowship Hall of the First United Methodist Church. A prayer service led by Pastor Brent Hanna will be held at 1:30 P.M., Saturday afternoon. A private family burial will be held at Graceland Cemetery of Knoxville at a later date.
Jane was born on February 5, 1932 in New Hampton, Iowa, to A.L. Riley Sr. and Eva (Nesfield) Riley. Jane graduated from New Hampton High School, Class of 1950. After high school Jane attended college at Upper Iowa University where she graduated with a teaching degree. While attending college, she met her husband, Del Humeston.
On June 29, 1952 in New Hampton, Iowa Jane and Del Humeston were united in marriage. They shared over 64 years of marriage and were blessed with four sons; Ron, Riley, Daniel, and Mike.
After college Jane taught elementary school in Knoxville and retired in 1991 to spend time with her family. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother. Jane was also a 50-year Eastern Star member and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Knoxville.
Jane is survived by her loving husband of 64 years; Del Humeston, three sons; Ron R. Humeston of Pella, Mike D. Humeston (Anna) of Knoxville, and Daniel R. Humeston (Rhonda) of Knoxville; and ten grandchildren, Caleb, Taylor, Aaron, Geno, Alexandra, Emily, Scott, Nathan, Matthew, and Rachel. Jane is also survived by her brother Donald E. Riley of Florida.
She is preceded by her parents A.L. Riley Sr. and Eva (Nesfield) Riley, her son, Riley David Humeston, one brother, Al Riley Jr., and one daughter-in-law, Marlys (Anderson) Humeston.
A memorial in Jane's memory will be established by the family for Westridge Specialty Care Center.
