Kristan J. Pettyjohn was the youngest of four children that were born to Kenneth and Charlotte Louise (Villont) Pettyjohn, Jr. He was born on November 7, 1963, at Knoxville, Iowa. Kris graduated from high school at Albia, Iowa and was a team manager for the football team. His first employment was with Pella Corporation in Pella, Iowa where he was employed for 15 years. For the past 20 years he had been working in the distribution center at Hy-Vee in Chariton, Iowa. Kris was an avid outdoors man. He enjoyed deer hunting using black powder, hunting for mushrooms, collecting rocks and arrow heads, and ice fishing. With all those experiences he was often known for his 'story telling'. Kris passed away on Monday, August 14, 2017, at the age of 53 years. He is survived by his wife, Susan (Johnson) Pettyjohn of Lovilia whom he married on June 15, 2007 ; his two children by a previous marriage: Nikolas Pettyjohn and his wife, Alexis and their two children: Adalyn and Brodi, and Hayley Pettyjohn of Lovilia; two step-children: Danny Johnson and Mark Seavey both of Lovilia; his parents, Ben and Charlotte Pettyjohn of Lovilia; his brother, Dennis Pettyjohn and his wife, Mary, of Lovilia; a sister, Diana and her husband, Dennis De Moss of Knoxville; and several nieces and nephews. Kris was preceded in death by his sister, Kendra Pearson. Funeral services were held on Friday, August 18, at the Williams Funeral Home in Knoxville.
