Larry Eugene Fowler, age 69, of Knoxville, died on Thursday evening, April 21, 2016, at the VA Hospital in Des Moines. Larry was born on Aug. 28, 1946, in Centerville, to Rosalie (Leck) and Leo Fowler. He graduated from Centerville High School. In June 1964, Larry enlisted in the United States Army where he specialized in Communications and served in the Vietnam War. After the military, Larry attended the University of Phoenix where he obtained his Bachelor's of Science degree, specializing in Computer Programing and Electronics. Throughout Larry’s life he always made extra time for learning, studying and reading. Larry enjoyed cats and listening to music from many different eras and genres. He especially enjoyed listening to Johnny Cash, The Beatles, and Blonde. Larry is survived by his son, Samuel Ryan Fowler (Naomi Diaz) of Knoxville; one sister, Diane Walton of Newton; two grandchildren, Jasmine Marie Fowler and Skiler Marie Luloff; and his best friend and 16-year roommate, Paulie Engstrom of Knoxville. Larry is preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers, Clem, Raymond and Ron Fowler. A Visitation for Larry will be held from 9:30-11 a.m., on Friday, April 29, 2016, at Celebrate Community Church in Knoxville. A memorial service to celebrate Larry’s life will be held on Friday, April 29, 2016, at 11 a.m., at the Celebrate Community Church, with Pastor Gary Roozeboom officiating.
