Larry D. Schrader passed away Tuesday, August 15th, 2017 at home surrounded by his family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Melcher-Dallas. Family will receive friends on Friday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the church. Interment will be at the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Memorials in Larry's memory may be made to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Melcher-Dallas. Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Melcher-Dallas is handling the arrangements.
Larry Dean Schrader was born June 8, 1942 to Sylvester and Flora (Verl) Schrader in Des Moines, Iowa. Larry was one of three children born to the couple. As a child, he attended Caloma Country School. Larry graduated from Dallas High School with the class of 1960. After graduation, Larry enlisted in the National Guard.
On October 23, 1965, Larry was united in marriage to Loretta Kauzlarich. The couple was blessed with five children: Kimberly, Richard, Regina, Corey, and Kathy.
Larry was a hard worker. In addition to raising cattle, painting, farming, and many other side ventures. Larry worked for John Deere in Ankeny for thirty-six years until his retirement in 1998. Although retired, Larry loved to stay busy. He enjoyed gardening, playing snooker, and fishing and enjoying his farm. Larry took several fishing trips to Minnesota. He loved vacationing with his family.
Larry enjoyed being at home. Spending time with Loretta, their children, and their grandchildren meant more to him than anything else. He looked forward to Sunday dinners, holidays, and their family traditions.
Surviving are his children: Kimberly (Len) Schrader Matthies of Smithville, MO and their daughter, Amber; Richard Schrader of Indianola and his children, Zach and Nicole; Regina (Eric) Dennison of Melcher-Dallas and their children, Anastasia and Evan; Corey (Tiffany) Schrader of Melcher-Dallas and their children: Leo, Lea, and Liam; and Kathy (Nick) Vogel of Carlisle and their children, Taylin and Bodie. Also surviving are his sister, Betty (Glen) Allbee of Des Moines; sister-in-law, Mary Schrader of Melcher-Dallas; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Preceding him in death was his wife, Loretta in 2014; his parents, Sylvester and Verl Schrader; and his brother, Bill Schrader.
