Lilah's Story

Lilah Mae Molamphy was born March 12, 1924 in Ocheydan, Iowa the daughter of Louis and Mary (Chapin) Linder.
She was raised in Milford, Iowa where she graduated from high school. As a young woman Lilah worked for Coca-Cola and at a rope factory. On October 31, 1944 Lilah was united in marriage to Tom Molamphy in Algona, Iowa. To this union two children were born: Michael Thomas and Marilyn Beth. The couple lived in Algona, New Albion, Orleans, Winfield, Council Bluffs, Greenfield, Creston and Chariton. For the last several years, Lilah has made her home at Homestead (formerly Park Lane Village).
Lilah enjoyed playing games, especially bingo, scrabble and Skip-Bo. She was a devout Christian and read her bible daily and loved listening to gospel music.
Lilah passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2017 at the Knoxville Hospital & Clinics at the age of 92 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Alvin Linder.
Those left to honor Lilah's memory include her children: Mike (Janette) Molamphy of Bay Town, Texas and Marilyn (Ben) Bontrager of Knoxville, Iowa; 6 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren and many other family members and friends.

Graveside Services were held at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville, Iowa on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Brent Hanna, officiating. For those desiring, memorials may be made to the Marion County Humane Society. Online condolences may be left at BertrandFuneralHomes.com
