Lindsey Marie (Kohrs) Rietveld, age 29, of rural Bussey passed away Thursday, December 1, 2016, at the Wal-Mart Store in Pella.
Visitation for Lindsey was held from 1:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Thursday, December 8, 2016, at the Winfield Funeral Home in Knoxville. Lindsey's family greeted friends Thursday evening from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., at the funeral home.
Funeral service for Lindsey will be held at 10:30 A.M., Friday, December 9, 2016, at the New Journey Church in Knoxville, with pastor Dave Woodcock officiating. Burial will follow services at Graceland Cemetery of Knoxville.
Lindsey was born in Des Moines and grew up in New Virginia, Iowa. She attended Interstate 35 High School and was a member of the high school volleyball team. She graduated from the Class of 2005.
After high school Lindsey lived and worked in Des Moines until she met Robert Lloyd Rietveld. Lindsey and Bob were inseparable from the beginning and on July 15, 2007, the hottest day of the year, at the Covered Bridge of the Marion County Park, Lindsey and Bob were united in marriage. They shared over nine years of marriage before Lindsey's passing.
Lindsey favorite thing was being an aunt. Her nieces and nephews were all "her children". Family time and game nights were very important to her. Lindsey loved reading, taking cruises with her husband Bob, watching Lifetime and Hallmark movies, and attending New Journey Church in Knoxville.
Lindsey is survived by her husband Robert "Bob" Rietveld of rural Bussey, mother Kris Kohrs of Indianola, father and mother-in-law Bob and Lou Rietveld of Knoxville, and her grandmother Judy Kohrs of Indianola. Lindsey is also survived by her two sisters Becky Kohrs (Billy) of Florida, Kelsy Kohrs of Des Moines, sister-in-law Clarissa Rietveld of Knoxville, eight nieces and nephews, and many aunts and uncles. She also leaves behind a multitude of friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her baby in infancy, her grandfather Robert "Bob" Kohrs, her grandfather Mike Mackey, and her grand father-in-law Lloyd Rietveld.
A memorial has been established to Lindsey's family. The Winfield Funeral Home of Knoxville is assisting Lindsey's family with services.
