Lois Marie Bingham was born on April 7, 1929, at Gosport, Iowa. She was one of ten children that were born to Wilbur and Iva (Umble)Bingham. Lois attended a one-room school house near Gosport. On July 4,1952, she and Charles Theodore Johnson were united in marriage at Bussey, Iowa and to this union six children were born. Charles served with the United States Army during the Korean War and during this time Lois was employed at the Overall Factory in Knoxville, Iowa. Following his discharge they farmed for two years north of Melcher and near Lacona, Iowa. They then moved to their farm near Bussey, Iowa where they farmed and lived until January, 2007. Lois was a devoted farm-wife and dedicated mother. Following their retirement they moved into Bussey. Lois and Charles were privileged to share 56 years of life together, enjoyed several Billy Cole Trips and going to Branson, Missouri. They thoroughly enjoyed the traveling and the comradery on the trips. On October 15,2008, Charles passed away at the age of 76 years. Lois continued living in their home in Bussey until she became a resident at the Monroe Care Center in Albia, Iowa on February 13, 2017. She passed away there on Saturday, February 25, 2017, at the age of 87 years. Lois is survived by five children and six grandchildren. They are:

Lois's family has grown to include 11 great-grandchildren; and she leaves two sisters: Alberta and her husband, Bill Ryerson of Bussey, and Bertha (Greg)Gibbons of Attica, Iowa; two brothers and their wives: Roy and Michelle Bingham of Pershing, Iowa, Gene and Bea Bingham of Davenport, Iowa; and a sister-in-law, Shirley (Frank) Bingham of Melcher, Iowa. Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Johnson; a son, Martin Johnson in 1981; her parents, Wilbur and Iva Bingham; the following sisters and brothers and their spouses: Helen Bingham, who died in infancy, Kenneth and Lois Bingham, Frank Bingham, Marge Hooten and John Dobson, Ruth and Paul Kennedy; and her parents-in-law, Roy Theodore and Edith (Arkema) Johnson.
