Peggy's Story

Peggy Jean Briggs was born March 11, 1950, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, the daughter of Paul and Erma (Umstot) Rudolph. She was raised in the Council Bluffs area and graduated from high school there. Peggy lived in Council Bluffs and later Fremont, Neb. On May 19, 1990, she was united in marriage to Rodney Briggs. The couple lived in California until moving to Knoxville 10 years ago. Peggy enjoyed raising plants and flowers and growing a vegetable garden. She canned many of the vegetables that she grew. Peggy passed away on Thursday, Dec. 31, 2015, at the Knoxville Hospital and Clinics at the age of 65 years. She was preceded in death by her father and two sisters: Nikki Gordon and Vikki Jolley. Those left to cherish Peggy’s memory include her husband, Rodney; children: Wendy Howard of Cedar Rapids, Shelly DeGoey pf Knoxville and Bill Sharp of Fremont, Neb.; 6 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; mother, Erma Lodl of Morse Bluff, Neb.; brother, Joe Jenkins of Council Bluffs; sister, Nola Vietor of Texas and many other family members and friends. A Memorial Service will be held at Celebrate Community Church, Knoxville, on Saturday, Feb. 20, at noon. Pastor Gary Roozeboom will officiate.
