Ray Langebartels, 74 of Melcher-Dallas, passed away on Jan. 18, 2016. A Celebration of Life Service was held on Friday, Jan. 22, 2016, at 11 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Melcher-Dallas. Family received friends on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016, from 5-7 p.m. at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John Lutheran Church in Melcher-Dallas. Online condolences may be shared at www.pierschbacherfuneralhome.com. Raymond Junior Langebartels was born on Nov. 12, 1941, to Raymond and Eula Langebartels north of Lacona. Ray graduated from Melcher High School in 1960. After graduation he worked for the Iowa Conservation Commission. On Oct. 1, 1961, Ray was united in marriage to Kaye Burk. The couple had two children, Lori and Miki. Ray was a hard worker. He worked at various jobs over the years: including the Iowa Conservation Commission and the Knoxville Veterans Hospital and retired from Titan Tire. After retiring, he worked for Johnson Machine Works and the City of Melcher-Dallas. Ray had a very strong faith. He served as an Elder at St. John Lutheran Church in Melcher-Dallas. He was also a man of good character and reflected this in his daily life. Ray was a loving husband, father and grandfather. His family will remembered how he expressed his feelings through his actions. He was quick to help anyone and everyone. Inventing was one of Ray’s hobbies. He liked to improve things and create new gadgets. He also loved the outdoors and spent a lot of time camping and coon hunting. His smile and sense of humor will be missed by so many. Ray is survived by his wife of 55 years, Kaye Langebartels; children: Lori Wheatcraft of Knoxville and Miki (Rod) Alexander of Melcher-Dallas; grandchildren: Kasie Patterson, Nicholas (Shelby) Patterson, Cain Patterson, Wyatt Wheatcraft, Wes (Meagan) Alexander, Dani (Trey) Schneider and Brad Alexander; six great grandchildren; and siblings: Luetta Crozier, Naomi Miller, Sharon Brady, Ed (Sharon) Langebartels, and Randy (Kelly) Langebartels. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Eula Langebartels.
