Robert Michael “Bob” Brees, age 64, of Knoxville, passed away Sunday morning, Nov. 1, 2015, at Oakwood Nursing & Rehabilitation Center of Albia. Visitation for Bob began at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2015, at the Winfield Funeral Home of Knoxville. A Christian wake service was held at 5:30 p.m., with Bob’s family present at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday evening. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 5, 2015, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, with Pastor Jacob Greiner officiating. Following services burial was held at Graceland Cemetery of Knoxville. Bob was born in Oskaloosa on Jan. 2, 1951, to James Martin and Betty June (Goodwin) Brees. Bob was raised in Knoxville and was a Knoxville High School graduate. After high school, Bob lived and worked around Knoxville all his life. He worked at the V, A. Hospital, later the Knoxville Rest Home. Bob last worked as a custodian at 3M for many years. Bob was a lifelong sports fan. He enjoyed watching Notre Dame, Green Bay Packers, San Francisco Giants, and the Los Angeles Lakers. Bob also liked music, especially from the 70’s era. Bob is survived by his eight brothers and sisters; Barb (Wayne) Bacus of Fort Worth, Texas, Janet (Ron) Houser of Monroe, Richard Brees of Knoxville, Jim (Kathy) Brees of Knoxville, John (Debbie) Brees of Knoxville, Karla (Dave) Blubaugh of Melcher-Dallas, Paula (Curt) Sorensen of Knoxville, and Julie Sorensen of Des Moines. Bob is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Martin and Betty June (Goodwin) Brees. Condolences may be sent to www.winfieldfh.com.
