Roger L. Ward, 77, formerly of Springfield, passed away on Sept. 17, 2015, in Lincoln, Neb. Born on Dec. 26, 1937, in Harvey, to Reed and Violet Ward, he grew up in Tracy. He married Shirley Sinnard on Oct. 20, 1956. Roger and Shirley were members of First United Methodist Church in Springfield for over 30 years. Survivors include his wife, Shirley; son, Greg (Carol) Ward of Ingleside, Ill.; daughter Teri (Tom) Lorenz of Lincoln, Neb.; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; brothers, Kenneth (Eileen) Ward of New Sharon; Paul Ward of Oskaloosa; Merrill (Shirley) Ward of Knoxville; sister, Connie (Bill) Thomas of Knoxville; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents; brother and sister-in-law, Keith and Dolores Ward of Victor; sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Pete Den Burger of Arkansas; sister-in-law Colleen Ward of Oskaloosa,. Visitation for Roger, with his family present, was held from 3-5 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 20, 2015, at the Winfield funeral Home in Knoxville. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Monday, Sept. 21, 2015, at the Winfield Funeral Home of Knoxville. Burial followed services at Graceland Cemetery, also of Knoxville.
