Rose's Story

Rose M. Kissinger, of Melcher-Dallas, passed away January 25, 2018 at the West Ridge Specialty Care in Knoxville at the age of 95. Online condolences may be shared at www.pierschbacherfuneralhome.com.
Rose M. Miller was born March 16, 1922 in Bradford, Iowa to Robert and Violet Fraser Miller. She was one of six children. Rose grew up in Bradford and attended school there. She was introduced to Charles "Chuck" Kissinger through her brother. They were married in 1938, made there home in Melcher-Dallas and were blessed with two children: John and Pat.
She worked at the Ten-X factory in Pleasantville and later owned the Nu-Way Cleaners in Melcher-Dallas for 10 years. More importantly she was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She was a skilled seamstress and enjoyed quilting and making clothes. She loved to go dancing and enjoyed the garden. Rose was a Hawkeye Fan and over course liked Lute Olson, but Johnny Orr was probably her favorite coach. Rose was well known and will be remembered for her amazing crème filled cupcakes, angel food cake, and chocolate pies.
Rose is survived by her daughter, Pat (Jim) Pope; grandchildren: Robert (Deneen) Pope, David (Jan) Pope, Rick (Gail) Pope, Terri (Doug) Cook, John (Ruby) Kissinger, and Lea (Craig) Williams; 17 great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Charles Kissinger; son, John Kissinger; and siblings: Grace Bullard, John "Bud" Miller, Wilma Richsmeier, Marlyn Miller, and Gladys Boyington.
