Gregory and Bertha (Bingham) Gibbons gave birth to their first of three children, Scott Paul. Scott was born on June 3, 1963, at Knoxville, Iowa. Scott attended the Twin Cedars School at Bussey, Iowa where he graduated from high school in 1981. During high school he participated in sports playing basketball and running track. More importantly he was admired and respected for his academic achievements. Soon after graduation Scott enlisted in the United States Air Force at Des Moines, Iowa in August of 1981 He was stationed at Hill Air Force Base in Utah when his first son, Travis Wade, was born. His overseas assignment took him to Japan where his second son, Casey Tobe, was born. He received several Air Force Achievement Medals, Air Force Commendation Medal, and an Air Force Longevity Service Award. Scott was discharged in December of 1997 with disability from the Air Force after serving 16 ½ years. Service to his country remained a priority in his life. Subsequent to his discharge Scott continued to over come his health challenges, but exercising remained his second priority. He was an avid outdoors man who enjoyed biking and skiing. He was content doing puzzles, found pleasure in taking pictures and had an appreciation for Rock & Roll music. As his family continued to grow Scott's third priority was his grandchildren. For the past 12 years Scott had made his home with his late father, Gregory, and his mother, Bertha Gibbons. Contrary to medical opinions Scott survived several medical crisis but late Saturday evening, November 25, 2017, he passed away unexpectedly at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa at the age of 54 years.
