Wanda Colene James was born April 30, 1934 to Marion and Mabel (Faidley) DeMoss in Marion County, Iowa. She attended and graduated from a country school in Marion County.
On December 3, 1952 Wanda and Lyle James were united in marriage at the former Church of the Nazarene in Knoxville, Iowa. To this union four children were born; Pat, Bonnie, Rick, and Kevin. Wanda enjoyed being with her family and hosting Sunday dinners every week.
She was always sewing, doing crafts, woodworking, or making baby blankets. Her family and the church were both very important to her. She was an active member of the First Church of the Nazarene throughout her life.
Wanda Colene James passed away at age 83 on Tuesday afternoon, January 30, 2018, at her residence in Knoxville, Iowa.
Wanda is survived by her loving husband of over 65 years, Lyle; three children, Pat Miller (Dave) of Fishers, IN, Rick James (Cheryl) of Pleasantville, and Kevin James (Laurie) of Knoxville. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and four brothers, "Pete" DeMoss, Bob DeMoss, "Doc" DeMoss, and Jerry DeMoss.
Wanda is preceded in death by her daughter, Bonnie Laird; parents, Marion and Mabel DeMoss; and two brothers, Don and "Moe" DeMoss.
Visitation for Wanda was at 11:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M., on Friday, February 2, 2018 at the Winfield Funeral Home of Knoxville. Wanda's family was present from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
A funeral service was held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at the First Church of the Nazarene in Knoxville, with Pastor Scott Olson officiating. An interment followed services at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville, Iowa. Wanda's family invited family and friends to a luncheon at the church immediately following interment.
