William "Bill"'s Story
William "Bill" Irvin Stuchel, age 84, of Knoxville, Iowa, died on Friday, October 20, 2017 at the Knoxville Hospital and Clinics. He was born on July 9, 1933 in Albia, Iowa to Robert and Julia (Heagney) Stuchel.
He graduated from Albia Community High School. He then enlisted with the United States Air Force, serving during the Korean Conflict. He worked at the VA Hospital in Knoxville as an engineer, until his retirement in 1988.
He enjoyed restoring antique cars and trucks, hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, and helping Chloe in her garden.
Bill is survived by his life companion, Chloe Graves of Knoxville; children, Theresa (Scott) Hoover of Raleigh, NC, Todd (Susan) Stuchel of Havelock, NC, Scott (Lynn) Stuchel of Wake Forest, NC, Patrick Stuchel of Wake Forest, NC; eight grandchildren, Brittany (Jeremy) Roszko, Serena Hoover, Lyndsey Stuchel, Khristene Stuchel, Joseph Stuchel, Tyler Stuchel, Meghan Stuchel, Amber Lindamood; four great grandchildren, siblings, Mary (Albert) Smith of Albia, Ruth (Bob) Carle of Des Moines; two sisters-in-law, Rose Stuchel and Sharon Stuchel, and many nieces and nephews also survive Bill. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Julia Stuchel, Son, Greg Stuchel; two sisters, Betty Romp and Evelyn Whitlock; six brothers, Richard in infancy, Don, Bob, Jim, Stanley, and Gary, and the mother of his children, Sharon Stuchel.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October, 24, 2017 at Sinnott Funeral Home in Albia with Father Mike Volkmer C.PP.S. officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Albia, followed by a luncheon at St. Mary's Church in Albia. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 24, 2017, from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at Sinnott Funeral Home in Albia. Memorials may be directed to the Welcome Home Soldier Monument.
