William Alfred “Bill” Worrall, age 83, of Knoxville, passed away Friday afternoon, Oct. 30, 2015, at Hospice Comfort House of Pella. A celebration of life service for Bill was held Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2015, at the Winfield Funeral Home. Bill’s family greeted friends from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. Following services burial, with military honors, was held at Greenwood Cemetery, north of Knoxville. William was born on Nov. 23, 1931. The son of Delmar Arthur and Mary (Laslie) Worrall. He grew up in Knoxville and graduated from Knoxville High School, Class of 1950. After high school William served in the United States Air Force. He served for four years in the Air Force, during the Korean War. He was stationed for three years at the Ashiya Air Force Base in Japan. After Bill’s service he returned home to Iowa and served in the Iowa Air National Guard, 132nd Fighter Wing, for 17 years. Bill married Elizabeth Ann Crews on March 20, 1954, at the First Christian Church of Knoxville. Bill and Betty shared 61 years of marriage and were blessed with one son, Mark. Bill worked as a union printer for many years. He worked for 7 ½ years with the Newton Daily News and later with the Des Moines Register and Tribune in the commercial printing department for 18 years. Bill also worked at Hormel Foods in Knoxville for 13 years before retiring. After retirement, Bill worked for a short time at the Red Rock Community Action Center and most recently with Terlouw Plumbing & Heating. Bill was also a member of the Faith Baptist Church and he enjoyed fishing and camping with his family. Bill is survived by his wife of over 61 years, Betty Worrall of Knoxville, his son; Mark Worrall and his wife Arlene of Knoxville; three grandchildren, Bridgette Worrall, Jacob Worrall, and Natalie Worrall; and one great-grandchild Harper Abner. Bill is also survived by his siblings, Twilia Dack, Gene Worrall, Art Worrall and Bertha Shipley. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Delmar and Mary Worrall; one sister, Eva Pearson; and one brother, Phillip Worrall.
