Catherine Husted
Catherine (Cathy) Elizabeth Husted was born May 3, 1930 in Marion County, Iowa, the daughter of Gerrit and Gertrude (Bishop) Visser.
Cathy graduated from Knoxville High School with the Class of 1947. On January 15, 1950, she was united in marriage to Billie (Bill) C. Husted. The couple lived in the Knoxville area most of their lives. Cathy worked at the Marion County Treasurer's Office for 30 years. Several of those years, Cathy served as the Deputy Treasurer, and for the six years prior to retirement, she served as the Marion County Treasurer.
She thoroughly enjoyed getting together with all the family for special occasions and loved decorating for every holiday. She also enjoyed traveling and took many bus trips throughout the United States. She had many great stories from her trip to London, where she visited her granddaughter. Cathy cherished her family and most especially spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Over the years, "Greatie" took great pride in purchasing each of her great-grandchildren's first cribs. She loved watching them grow and made sure she was there for all the big moments in their lives. She took an unbelievable amount of pride in her family and was always their biggest supporter.
Cathy passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at Homestead Assisted Living, in Knoxville, at the age of 89 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; grandson, Timothy Husted; and siblings Robert Visser, Phillip Visser, Buck Visser, Loretta Goad and Don Visser.
