Louis DeWayne Stansberry
Louis DeWayne Stansberry, age 89, of Knoxville, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.
Louis was born on September 9, 1930, on a farm in Melrose, Iowa, the son of Everett Franklin and Amy Lucinda (Bush) Stansberry. He grew up in Monroe County and attended his senior year and graduated from Roosevelt High School in Cedar Rapids.
Louis was united in marriage to Georgia Lorraine Simms on May 17, 1964. They enjoyed 36 years of marriage before her passing on November 13, 1998.
Louis served in the United States Navy from 1947 - 1950. In 1952, he joined the Air Force and served during the Korean War until 1955. After his service, Louis was an over the road semi driver for Wonder Bread until his retirement.
Louis enjoyed motorcycling and traveling with his wife, Georgia. He also had a lifelong passion and since 1947 was an active licensed pilot.
Louis's wishes were to be cremated. A private family inurnment was held at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville.
Those left to cherish his memory include his niece and her children in Alaska.
Louis is also survived by his sister-in-law, Marge Stansberry and her family.
Louis is preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Amy Stansberry; wife, Georgia Stansberry; two brothers; and five sisters.
