Sharon Kay Lobel
Sharon Kay (Krachel) Kline Lobel, age 78, of Knoxville, Iowa, passed away on Monday, November 18, 2019 at the Pella Hospice Comfort House of Pella, Iowa.
Kay was born on July 14, 1941, in Hebron, Nebraska, the daughter of Thomas and Pearl (Stockten) Krachel. She grew up in Biwabik, Minnesota and graduated from Biwabik High School. As a child, she spent her summers in Knoxville with her older sister Shirley.
Kay worked in Nebraska for a while and then moved to Knoxville. Kay worked at many places around Knoxville. She worked at Pine Knolls Country Club, Gus & Nick's, Shorty's and Tiffany's. She co-owned and operated The Whynotshop in Knoxville. For many years, she was a medical assistant for Dr. Burros, Dr. McClung, and Dr. McKeever. For 15 years, until her retirement she worked at 3M.
She was united in marriage to Jerry Kline, and they were blessed with three sons, Todd, Thomas, and Timothy. They later divorced. On November 28, 1991, she remarried the love of her life, Frank John Lobel. They enjoyed 27 years of marriage and he blessed their family with a daughter, Dyan.
Kay enjoyed traveling and Hawaii was one of her favorite destinations. She also loved to shop and give gifts to family and friends. She was a wonderful decorator and especially loved decorating for Christmas.
A funeral service for Kay was held on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at the Winfield Funeral Home in Knoxville. Visitation began at 9:00 A.M. until the start of service, with Kay's family present to greet friends and relatives. Following services, a luncheon was held at the First United Methodist Church in Knoxville. Kay's wishes were to be cremated and a private family burial will be held on a later date.
Those left to cherish Kay's memory include her husband, Frank Lobel of Knoxville; sons, Thomas Kline (Amanda Harris) of Newton, and Timothy (Charity) Kline of Altoona; daughter, Dyan (Paul) Mitchell of Knoxville; daughter-in-law, Cassie Kline of Conway, AR; seven grandchildren, Zoe Kline, Peyton Kline, Devin Kline, Zachary Ferguson, Nick Kline, Caitlin Mitchell, and Allyson Kay Mitchell; also two great-grandchildren, Bryer and Chloe.
Kay is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Pearl Krachel; son, Todd Kline; sister, Shirley Dorsey; and her special nephew, Larry Dorsey.
Memorials may be given in Kay's memory to Pella Comfort House and St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
